Welcome
To Pavenham Park Golf Club
Pavenham
Park Golf Club is located three miles north of Bedford and
was opened in 1994. The course is established as one of
the best in the area with its traditional, undulating parkland
layout.
This
challenging par 72, 18-hole golf course measures 6,467 yards
off the Tiger Tees and sits in the middle of the Bedfordshire
countryside, providing spectacular views of the surrounding
villages and woodlands.
Pavenham
village has been a settlement on the River Ouse as far back
as the Stone Age and Roman artifacts have been found locally.
The Manor House was built around the time of William the
Conqueror and during World War II, Glenn Miller was billeted
here. Pavenham Park Golf Club now occupies the estate where
the grand Manor House once stood.
Pavenham
Park’s beautiful parkland exhibit’s great playing
conditions during all weather. From tee to green, fairway
to rough and bunkers to ponds Pavenham Park consistently
offers a superb golfing experience for all levels of golfers.
However,
Pavenham Park also stands ‘head and shoulders’
above its rivals in many other areas. It is located in the
picturesque and quiet village of Pavenham, based in the
tranquil rural countryside of North Bedfordshire. On entering
of the club you will pass
the
16th century Lodge House and hopefully feel very much a
sense of arriving at your very own relaxed retreat. The
drive up to the clubhouse must be one of the most pleasant
in the area as you meander through the old pheasantry and
the past Duke of Kent’s parkland. The clubs car park
is perfectly positioned with views over the 18th green.
The clubhouse also benefits from being in a prime site with
easy access to the 1st and 10th tees and the 9th and 18th
greens.
Since its inauguration the course has benefited from expanded
and new teeing areas, new tree plantations and new hazards,
new strategically based bunkers, improved teeing areas and
some 5,000 new trees planted in various areas. The coming
year will see additional development in the form of improved
greens, the 1st and 4th greens being the first to be upgraded.
The playing areas continue to be consistently the best conditioned
in the area and will only further improve with the addition
of new green keeping machinery for the coming season.
Pavenham Park as a playing venue will continue to excel
and this, combined with nature’s generosity of great
views, a tranquil setting and fantastic mature parkland,
will surely ensure that the club remains regarded as one
of the best in the area.
The golf course itself continues to excel in all areas and
it is continuously compared to other old established venues
even though that this year Pavenham Park is only celebrating
its youthful 15th birthday!
The
new clubhouse was opened by professional golfers Ian Poulter
and Justin Rose in 2001 and further extended during 2009/2010.
The
club extends its welcome to all visitors and members, as
well as guests visiting the function rooms and marquee.
