Pavenham
Park Golf Club
A uniquely personal approach to wedding receptions
For most couples these days, planning a
wedding involves a careful balancing of
dreams and ideas and available finance, but at Pavenham
Park golf club we see
no reason why working to a clear budget means giving
up on what you really
want. And if that’s high standards and beautiful
surroundings in a warm friendly
and relaxed atmosphere then you are already halfway
there. We believe these
aspects are a big part of what makes a wedding special
and here at Pavenham
Park these are the areas we pride ourselves on. So
even if you are operating from
a fairly tight budget these are the things that will
never be compromised.
With a highly competitive basic rate of £2,500
for the hire of the marquee,
whatever else you then require on top can be arranged
to fit with your ideas and
your budget. We don’t believe in set prices
for set menus and including and
charging for extras automatically. Enclosed are examples
of wedding reception
meals we can offer but with us the choice really is
yours.
We firmly believe that you should own your
special day so we hold no hard and
fast rules about the order things should happen in
or what you should or
shouldn’t include. And with the same principle
we feel it is important that we fit
into and around your day rather than you having to
fit around us.
The
Marquee
Purpose
built for events such as wedding receptions, the marquee is
60’ x 40’ and
fully lined. As you can see from the photographs,
the interior itself offers a
dreamy timeless quality perfect either on its own
or as a base with which to add
any type of decoration that you may require. A calm
and uplifting ambience is
created by day as the natural light almost glows through
the fluid shell and by
night it can be transformed by your choice of lighting.
For the daytime reception the marquee can
hold comfortably any number of
guests up to around 165 in total and this number can
be increased for the
evening when there is obviously less table seating
requirements. The marquee
linings also allow for a great deal of manipulation
as they can be moved to section
off corners of the marquee etc. Accordingly this gives
the flexibility to hold smaller
dinners for say 35 people without losing any of the
ambience.
The floor of the marquee is solid and carpeted
throughout and has ample space
for any music and dancing. There is also a full bar
service from inside. We do
have large in-house heaters in the marquee for those
chillier days and guests will
be able to use our washroom facilities in our golf
clubhouse which is connected to
the marquee.
The
Grounds
Pavenham Park is a 14 year old golf club
set in fields and woodland dating back
hundreds of years. Superb for those all important
photo opportunities – feel free to
ask which are the most idyllic spots or let us take
you on a buggy ride around the
course so that you can choose - it also boasts an
interesting history.
The field in which the 12th and 13th holes
are built, was once owned by the
Duke of Kent. Around 200 years ago he built a lodge
there to store horses in. The
Duke would travel from Kimbolton Castle to Olney and
his Mistress, stopping off
to swap tired horses for fresh ones at his Lodge!
And until 1960 the site boasted a Manor
House. Sadly this was demolished
before the Thompson family who own Pavenham Park Golf
Club bought the site.
However two 300 year old Tudor Oaks still line the
drive way and within the
wooded copse by the 15th hole lies a third. Opposite
is the tallest tree on the
course - a Diadora Redwood, all relics of a fascinating
past.
The new Pavenham Park clubhouse was opened
in April 2001 by top golf tour
professionals Ian Poulter and Justin Rose with assistance
from the Arsenal
football team.
Food
and Drink
At
Pavenham Park we are proud and delighted to offer the flexibility
of superb
cuisine to suit you. Whether you are looking for a cold buffet
or a seven course
meal, our head chef will work with you to plan your
dream menu at a price you
are happy with. Our food is not only exciting but
exceptionally good value for
money too! Along with our whole philosophy at Pavenham
Park, the chef believes
that it is your day and your choice and will do whatever
possible to provide food
to suit you.
We offer a good selection of wines with
house wines starting from around £10.50
per bottle (see enclosed wine list), however we offer
a corkage facility where you
are most welcome to bring along your own wines for
the reception. We would then
store and chill these in preparation and charge a
£6.00 corkage fee per bottle
used. Any remaining wine can then be taken away by
yourselves. Alternatively
we can arrange for wine to be served by the glass
to your guests and included in
the price per head for food. And if you choose to
include coffee after dinner or
champagne to toast, this can be arranged in the same
way. If the weather is fine
we can also arrange for reception drinks to be served
outside the marquee to your
guests as they arrive.
Extras
Should you require, we can provide at an
extra cost just about anything you
require. From something small such as cloth serviettes
with napkin holders to
balloon decorations and a band and from a cake stand
and knife to children’s
entertainers. This is why we urge you to contact us
for a chat so that you can
discuss what you really want and discover dreams really
can come true!

How
it works
- Give us a call to arrange an informal meeting so that
we can discuss your ideas and show you around.
(We are confident that you will like what you see
and hear at Pavenham Park. If you choose not to
continue with us however, we would hope you have
luck in finding the type of wedding reception
you dream of elsewhere and wish you all the best
for the future.)
- After the initial meeting we give you the time you will
need to go away and discuss with each other what your feelings
are.
- The next step is down to you. As soon as you are ready,
you can arrange a second meeting with us. We can find out
how much or little you require from us, discuss themes and
menu ideas further if needed and make a provisional booking
for you.
- Then we will leave you to get on with the many and varied
tasks required until one month
before the big day when we will meet for a detailed
discussion to check all is going to plan.
However should you wish to contact us before this
time we are always at the end of the phone
and are quite happy to meet as often as you wish
to discuss progress.
- 10 days before the big day we need to know final numbers
in writing.
- A few days before the big day we need anything you are
providing in the way of decorations etc. so that we can
set up for you should you wish. Alternatively if you want
to set up the room yourselves we need to arrange times.
- On the day we will set up the room with whatever you
require and ensure that everything happens when and how
you want it.
- We will hang onto any decorations you wish to keep until
the pre arranged collection date.
